Let the good times roll...

I can’t believe how time flies. It seems like we’ve been pregnant forever and yet, I cannot believe that we are only 8 weeks away! I am very excited.

Last weekend, Rob and I attended our Childbirth and Parenting class. I think we picked up a couple factoids during class that we didn’t know before, and we were able to tour the labor and delivery area. When we passed by the nursery all of the class participants were forced into nervous giggling - there was a 10 pound 2 ounce baby (toddler?!) with a full head of hair that was just brought in. Just a stab in the dark, but I think the mom might have needed some time for herself in her room. I’ll just say what everyone else was thinking, (of course wishing for a perfectly health baby like she was) “Please – not 10 pounds!”

Wednesday morning, I woke up to a bit of surprise: Rob was not able to move because he was in so much pain. He said that he was experiencing the worst pain he’s ever experience in his life. He ended up getting downstairs (1 hour later) and finally to the car (another hour later) off to the clinic we went. We were able to get in to see his doctor – and quickly ruled out my diagnosis of kidney stones. I guess that’s a good thing, as we did avoid a trip to the hospital. Rob threw his back out so we were sent on our way with a prescription for painkillers, muscle relaxants and ibuprofen. We were able to pick them up right away at our neighborhood pharmacy and he was asleep within an hour. He has been doing a lot better, but is still in some pain and won’t be sprinting anytime soon.

Thursday my mom was in town. We made it to our doctor’s appointments, lunch and shopping. It was a very fun day. Her update is: stitches out=good. J My appointment went well, too. My blood sugar and measurements are all good. The official report from my last ultrasound has me in the normal range for my fluids – but still on the low end. So, my doctor requested another ultrasound to keep an eye on things. That appointment is next week. I also get to go in every two weeks for my appointments now, so I’ll have a regular doctor’s appointment the following week as well.

Baby clothes update: Hope, my mom and I went through bins and bins of clothes at Hope’s house. Seriously, Hailey must have/should have won “Best Dressed” child at day care. There were clothes that I don’t remember Hailey wearing – so I’m convinced there must have been a few months I wasn’t allowed to be around her. I really appreciate being able to use these hand-me-downs, they were so fun to look at and go through; I’m excited to have the baby wear all of the adorable outfits!!!

I'll have to add a picture of the figurine that my mom gave me - Thank you Mom, it's beautiful!

2 good things from the baby class...1)tour of the labor and delivery floor so you know where to go... and 2)makes you feel much smarter than those other people in the class, yet sorry for their future children.

All you both really need to know is to....Erin - remember to breathe and not hold your breath, and Rob - remind her to not hold her breath because she will and she will not realize it at all. I kept forgetting and Chad had to remind me EVERY contraction.
