20 Weeks

Busy day today! We started out by having our ultrasound. It was very cool. The baby was moving it's arms and legs around quite a bit, it had it's hand in it's mouth - very cute! I know the big question is, "Is it a boy or a girl?!" The answer? Yes. It is either a boy or a girl!

We wanted to find out with this visit, but the baby decided not to cooperate. First, the baby is breech (which is not unusual or bad), but it made it more difficult to see things (other than it's cool spine and rips). Second, it was facing back giving us a very nice view of it's butt. It also looked like it was sitting on it's legs, they were crossed and close together. We tried getting up and walking around (to the bathroom-twice- thanks to having to go with a full bladder), laying on my side and tilting the bed so my head was down. No luck.

The good news is, that the tech said that everything she saw looked completely normal and that we have nothing to worry about. She also tried very hard to get some better shots of the structures of the heart, but was not able to because of the baby's position. It's heart rate was normal (143 bpm at the ultrasound and 154 bpm at the doctor's office). She said that she recommends that we come back in a couple of weeks so they can get shots of the heart and they can also check the gender.

I also had my regular 20 week appointment with my doctor today. That was far less exciting. I was down 2 pounds from my last visit, putting me down 24 pounds overall. So now we can mark today as the end of the weight loss! :-) I did ask the doctor again to see how if my weight was okay, and she said that it isn't a problem. I'm measuring right on and the numbers for my blood are looking "excellent".

Oh, the ultrasound puts me at 19 weeks 3 days and the doctor has me at 20 weeks 5 days. No talk of changing my due date, though.

So, I'll have another appointment for an ultrasound in a couple of weeks, and my next appointment will be in four weeks. Dr. M. said I only have to come in again before that if I start having trouble controlling my numbers.

AND, we registered at Babies 'R' Us today. We'll have to do some modifying depending if we find out if it's a boy or a girl in a couple of weeks and based on any feedback from people who know what people really need opposed to our guesses!

I'll scan in our ultrasound pictures and see if I can get them posted tonight!
