16 Weeks

I'm starting to think that when people say, "Oh, don't worry. Morning sickness goes away after the first trimester..." that it's all a conspiracy. It gives you something to look forward to in the short term, but it's mostly just said to make you feel better. :-)

Well, I guess I can admit that it's not a complete lie. I have been feeling much better lately and morning sickness has been limited to the actual morning. I'm sure that's a good sign. But, in my defense, it's week 16- not the end of the first trimester (and I still have a fun start to my day).

Testing my blood has been going fine, and, with only a couple of exceptions, my numbers have been in the normal range. The couple times that they haven't been fine - it's been pretty clear why they weren't. I should know that sneaking a couple of fries or having yogurt and a cookie would simply not do. Now I know for sure cause the numbers don't lie. My doctor said that my first week's number are well under control and to keep up the good work.

I also think I've seen the end of my weight loss, which is a good thing. I'm down 21 pounds from my pre-pregnacy weight on my scale and 24 on the doctor's. My doctor said that she was not concerned unless I kept on dropping. I've been there for almost a whole week now, so I'm guessing I'll soon see those number bounce back up. I really don't look like I've lost any weight and my pants certainly aren't fitting that well! I thinking I won't be as lucky as my sister by not starting to show until I'm 7 months along - so I will take have a cute belly for the summer if I can't hold off on showing.

We have a 20 week ultrasound scheduled in a few weeks. We are looking forward to that. We will have them tell us the sex of the baby if they can tell. We have looked a little bit for bedding and whatnot, and regardless what they tell us we think we'll be able to stay gender nuetral for the room. We'll see how we feel about that decision in a few weeks, but it works for now!

Oh! Baby's heartbeat was at 148 beats per minute at this visit.
